One bookseller's holding contains the plates in three states [possibly the 89 copies on Madagascar). Preface by Jean Hervez [Raoul Vezé]. Limited edition of 1290 with 89 on Madagascar. "Les Faites et gestes" is the title of the final part of a three part work called "Confidences reciproques, ou Anecdotes de la Societe de Mme la Comtesse de B***, published in 1774. "Les Faites et gestes" was published separately in 1818 as "Ma Vie de Garcon." The ascripton to Crebillon is disputed and Caylus has been put forward as an alternative author [Patrick Kearney].

According to Dutel this particular variant was probably published by Jean Fort sometime between 1914-1918. Although Ashbee states E.D. is E. Desjardins, Mendes argues in the notes to 137-A that Dumoulin and Desjardins may in fact be two different people, with Dumoulin the author of homosexual themed novels and Desjardins the author of flagellation themed novels.

Published again by Fort in 1913. This work was also later published by Rene Bonnel in 1928 but evidently he was a bit of a jokster. The book Bonnel published looked very similar to publications put out by "Bibliothèque Rose" (a prestigious publishing house), complete with the address of the Hachette bookshop! But the resemblance stopped there, on the title page the edition is shown to be from a company in Santo Domingo. Needless to say Bibliothèque Rose wasn't happy. Although they didn't know who actually published the book, they filed a counterfeit claim against "X" in 1929. All 128 copies had been sold to collectors by then but an investigator was able to buy them all back. Bonnel was never found out. [See Pia's preface to "Mademoiselle du Mustelle", Ramsay, 1980].

This work is said to be the biography of opera singer Wilhelmine Schroeder-Devrient, originally published in German as "Aus den Memoiren einer Saengerin", 2 volumes, 1868 and 1875 [Ashbee Vol.1, p.102]. According to Dutel this present edition was probably published by Jean Fort as the typographie and vignette matches some of Fort's other publications [i.e. Petites Cousines, Aventures amoureuses de Mlle de Sommerange, etc.].
