L'Historie Comique de Francion

This Jean Fort edition is the first reprint since the work was published in 1623. Per the title page, the intent of "L'Historie Comique de Francion" [The Comical History of France] is to expose the subtle devices and trickeries parcticed by men and women of all ages and social classes.

Charles Sorel (1597-1674) was a historiographer of France, who also wrote about subjects in the fields of science, history and religion but he is remembered by his novels, particularly "L'Historie Comique de Francion".
